Ownership

Axis News Network is operated by Axis News Network LLC and is part of Positive Space Media.

Positive Space Media provides broader organizational infrastructure and supports the development of media, information, technology, and public-interest initiatives.

Axis retains editorial control over its journalism.

How Axis Is Funded

Axis may support its work through a combination of company investment, earned revenue, advertising, sponsorships, grants, philanthropic support, institutional partnerships, events, licensing, and other media or information products.

Different forms of funding may support different parts of the organization, including:

  • •journalism and reporting
  • •local-news initiatives
  • •investigative and public-interest projects
  • •newsroom technology and infrastructure
  • •audience and distribution products
  • •fellowships and talent development
  • •research and data projects
  • •events and public programming

Funding relationships do not give outside organizations authority over editorial conclusions or publication decisions.

Grants and Philanthropic Support

Philanthropic and institutional funding can help support reporting that requires sustained investment, especially in communities and subject areas where traditional newsroom resources are limited.

A funder may support a beat, geography, newsroom initiative, fellowship, reporting project, technology effort, or other defined area of work.

Axis determines reporting methods, sources, findings, editorial framing, headlines, publication timing, and final editorial decisions.

Material funding connected to a specific editorial project or series is disclosed where readers can reasonably understand the relationship.

Institutional Partnerships

Axis may work with universities, foundations, nonprofit organizations, civic institutions, technology companies, research organizations, and other partners on projects that support journalism and access to useful information.

Partnerships may include reporting initiatives, newsroom infrastructure, technology, research, training, talent development, distribution, community information projects, or other work aligned with Axis’s mission.

Partnership agreements do not provide outside organizations with editorial approval over independent journalism.

Sponsorship and Commercial Relationships

Sponsored or paid material is identified separately from independent editorial coverage.

Advertising, sponsorship, business development, and commercial relationships are managed separately from editorial decision-making.

Axis journalists and editors are not required to provide favorable coverage to advertisers, sponsors, funders, partners, or affiliated organizations.

Corrections and Accountability

Readers should be able to understand who operates Axis, how journalism is funded, and how editorial decisions are made.

Axis maintains public policies covering editorial standards, ethics, corrections, privacy, copyright, and other areas of newsroom accountability.

Material conflicts of interest or financial relationships relevant to a specific piece of journalism are disclosed when necessary for readers to evaluate the work.
