Overview
Axis News Network works with universities, foundations, nonprofit organizations, civic institutions, research organizations, community partners, and other institutions that share an interest in strengthening journalism, expanding access to reliable information, and developing the next generation of media talent.
Partnerships can support reporting, local-news capacity, education, research, technology, workforce development, distribution, and other initiatives that increase the availability and usefulness of credible information.
Axis approaches institutional collaboration as part of its broader work as a news and information company. Journalism remains at the center, while partnerships can provide additional resources, expertise, infrastructure, and pathways for expanding the reach and impact of that work.
Universities & the HBCU Ecosystem
Axis works with universities and institutions across the HBCU ecosystem to connect education with professional journalism, local reporting, and media careers.
These relationships can support student reporting, newsroom experience, research, mentorship, fellowships, internships, curriculum-connected projects, and other opportunities that allow students to develop skills through real work.
Through Axis Fellows and related initiatives, Axis is building pathways that can begin in high school, continue through HBCUs and other universities, and lead into careers across journalism, media, technology, research, and information.
University partnerships can also expand reporting capacity around the communities and institutions those schools serve.
Foundations & Philanthropy
Philanthropic support can help sustain journalism in communities, subject areas, and reporting environments where traditional newsroom resources are limited.
Axis works with foundations and other philanthropic institutions on initiatives that may support local reporting, public-interest journalism, newsroom capacity, talent development, research, technology, community information, and other areas aligned with the organization’s editorial mission.
Funding relationships do not provide funders with control over reporting conclusions, editorial framing, sourcing, or publication decisions.
Material funding connected to specific editorial projects is disclosed when appropriate.
Local News & Community Institutions
Axis partners with organizations that understand the information needs of the communities they serve.
Local institutions can provide important knowledge about communities, industries, schools, public systems, economic conditions, and emerging issues. Axis can combine that knowledge with professional reporting, editorial standards, data, and distribution to expand access to useful local information.
Partnerships may support new reporting capacity, coverage of underserved subjects or geographies, community information projects, talent pipelines, and other initiatives that strengthen local journalism.
Research, Data & Technology
Institutional partnerships may also extend beyond traditional reporting.
Axis works across journalism, data, research, and digital products. Selected technology and data infrastructure supporting the Axis ecosystem is developed by 1210 Technology, including systems connected to weather information, newsroom technology, and the Pathways product suite.
Pathways Pursuit, Pathways EDU, and Pathways Intelligence create additional opportunities for universities, researchers, institutions, and other partners to connect information with learning, analysis, workflows, and access to opportunity.

Commercial, philanthropic, academic, and institutional relationships do not guarantee favorable coverage or editorial approval.
