Vice President JD Vance and Wife Usha Welcome Fourth Child

Vice President JD Vance and his wife Usha have welcomed their fourth child, a son named Alec Neel Vance, on Sunday, July 19, 2026. The couple shared the news through a joint statement on social media, expressing that both Usha and the newborn are 'happy and healthy.'
The birth took place at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland. The Vances extended their gratitude to the military doctors and staff at Walter Reed and the White House Medical Unit for their care.
This event is historically significant as it is the first time in more than 150 years that a child has been born to a sitting U.S. vice president. The last occurrence was in 1870, when Vice President Schuyler Colfax's son was born during his tenure.
The Vance family, which includes three other children—Ewan, 9, Vivek, 6, and Mirabel, 4—expressed their joy at the newest addition to their family.
