Trump Threatens Renewed Attack and Naval Blockade on Iran

President Trump has issued a new threat to launch a 'big attack' on Iran and warned of resuming a naval blockade in the Strait of Hormuz. This announcement comes less than 24 hours after the U.S. military conducted strikes on Iranian targets in response to attacks on commercial shipping.
The U.S. military's recent offensive involved precision strikes on over 80 Iranian targets, including air-defense systems, missile sites, and port facilities. These actions were authorized by Trump during NATO events in Turkey, according to U.S. officials.
In addition to military action, Trump has signaled the potential resumption of a naval blockade in the strategic Strait of Hormuz, a critical chokepoint for global oil shipments. The blockade was previously enforced in April 2026 after peace talks in Pakistan failed, resulting in significant economic impacts on Iran.
The April blockade, which began on April 13, involved the deployment of over 10,000 U.S. troops and a dozen warships. It was reported to cost Iran approximately $500 million per day in lost oil revenues, with estimates of $4.8 billion in losses by early May.
