'The Mandalorian and Grogu' to Stream on Disney+ in September

By Leo Castellanos

The Star Wars film The Mandalorian and Grogu will be available for streaming on Disney+ beginning September 2, 2026, according to Space.com. The film, which premiered in theaters on May 22, 2026, grossed $345 million worldwide, a figure considered underwhelming given its $166 million production cost.

Directed by Jon Favreau, the film features Pedro Pascal and Sigourney Weaver in leading roles. It was initially announced in January 2024, with Favreau confirmed as both writer and director. The film filled a previously reserved release slot in May 2026.

Despite its modest box office performance, the film's availability on Disney+ could attract a new audience and potentially bolster its reception. Disney's strategy of releasing the film on its streaming platform aligns with broader industry trends of maximizing content reach through digital distribution.
