Slate Auto Unveils Affordable Electric Truck Amidst Declining EV Sales

Slate Auto has launched a new electric truck, the 'Blank Slate,' priced at $24,950. The vehicle aims to address the declining trend in electric vehicle (EV) sales in the United States, where EVs account for under 10% of new vehicle sales.
The Blank Slate features a 63–65 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery, providing an estimated range of 205 miles. It supports DC fast charging up to 120 kW, allowing a 20–80% charge in about 30 minutes. An onboard 11 kW AC charger enables a full charge in approximately four hours on a Level 2 charger.
Performance specifications include a rear-wheel-drive system with a single electric motor generating 181 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque, achieving 0-60 mph in about 8 seconds. The truck's payload capacity is 1,550 pounds, with a towing capacity of 2,000 pounds.
Slate Auto's new truck is designed with minimalist features, foregoing touchscreens for physical controls, and is equipped with a NACS port for access to Tesla's Supercharger network.
First deliveries of the Blank Slate are expected in the fourth quarter of 2026, with a 10-year or 110,000-mile warranty offered on the battery and powertrain.
