Russia Launches Major Ballistic Missile Attack on Kyiv

Russia launched a substantial ballistic missile attack on Kyiv on July 19, 2026, resulting in at least one reported fatality. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky described the event as “one of the largest ballistic missile attacks” on the capital.
The attack involved a significant number of ballistic missiles targeting Kyiv and its surrounding areas. According to President Zelensky, Russian forces had been preparing and stockpiling these missiles in the days leading up to the assault.
While specific casualty figures from the July 19 attack are not fully detailed, a United Nations Human Rights Monitoring Mission report from earlier in the month noted that a similar large-scale missile and drone strike resulted in at least 14 civilian deaths and over 80 injuries in Kyiv and its region.
Local health authorities in Kyiv reported that a recent attack, likely related to the same event, resulted in 11 deaths and 56 injuries, including two children. Emergency response teams were deployed to 59 locations, with 110 medical teams providing assistance.
