Rep. Jasmine Crockett to Focus on Down-Ballot Campaigning in Texas

Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas) announced she will prioritize campaigning for down-ballot candidates in Texas, indicating she will not join Democratic Senate nominee James Talarico on the campaign trail. Crockett, who lost to Talarico in the March primary, made her intentions clear during an interview with CNN's Laura Coates on August 28, 2026.
Crockett emphasized the importance of supporting down-ballot races in Texas, arguing that relying solely on high-profile candidates is insufficient for mobilizing voter turnout. She referenced past elections, such as Beto O’Rourke’s campaigns, to illustrate her point.
The Texas Tribune reported that Crockett declined an invitation to headline a state Democratic convention event organized by Talarico, describing his outreach as an “afterthought.” Instead, she plans to focus on her political action committee, FIRE PAC, to support other Democratic candidates.
In a July interview with Breitbart, Crockett highlighted her strategy of endorsing multiple down-ballot candidates, noting that all five of her endorsed candidates in runoff elections advanced to the November ballot.
