Raskin Claims Epstein Emails Indicate Unregistered Foreign Lobbying

By Marcus Ellison

Representative Jamie Raskin (D-Md.), the Ranking Member of the House Judiciary Committee, has raised concerns that emails from Jeffrey Epstein to global leaders indicate that Epstein engaged in lobbying activities on behalf of foreign governments. According to Raskin, these communications suggest that Epstein should have registered under the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA).

Raskin's assertions are based on a trove of emails released by the House Oversight Committee, which include exchanges between Epstein and various political figures. Notably, a 2011 email between Epstein and attorney Reid Weingarten discusses a political dispute in Kazakhstan, suggesting Epstein's involvement in circulating foreign political material within his network.

Further scrutiny of the emails reveals Epstein's attempts to leverage his relationship with then-President Donald Trump. An email from 2015 shows Epstein and journalist Michael Wolff preparing a response for Trump's CNN interview, highlighting Epstein's perceived influence.

Raskin's examination of the unredacted Epstein files revealed over a million documents containing Trump-related terms, underscoring the extensive nature of Epstein's communications.
