Nigeria's Oil Production Surpasses OPEC Quota, Reaches Six-Year High

By Elena Marquez

Nigeria's crude oil production reached a significant milestone in June 2026, hitting a 74-month high with an average output of 1.56 million barrels per day (bpd), according to the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC). This figure represents 104% of Nigeria's OPEC quota of 1.5 million bpd.

In addition to crude oil, Nigeria produced 180,000 bpd of condensate, bringing the total output to 1,735,398 bpd. This marks the highest level of production since April 2020, underscoring a period of operational stability and absence of major pipeline outages.

The increase in production follows a trend of rising output over the past four months, growing from approximately 1.483 million bpd in February to 1.735 million bpd in June. This steady rise reflects improvements in Nigeria's oil sector management and infrastructure.
