Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has commenced a six-day tour of the Asia-Pacific region, visiting Indonesia, Australia, and New Zealand from July 6 to 11, 2026. This trip is part of India's efforts to reinforce its Act East Policy and MAHASAGAR Vision, aiming to promote a free, open, and inclusive Indo-Pacific region.

In Indonesia, Modi's visit, which runs from July 6 to 8, marks his fourth trip to the country. The agenda includes discussions on maritime security, defense, connectivity, trade, energy, and digital cooperation. A significant outcome of the visit was the signing of a defense agreement with President Prabowo Subianto on July 7, allowing Indonesia to acquire India's BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles. This agreement is part of over a dozen pacts covering various sectors, including trade and culture.

Modi's visit to Australia, scheduled from July 8 to 10, includes participation in the Annual Leaders’ Summit in Melbourne. Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has emphasized the importance of the Australia-India relationship, particularly in security, trade, defense, and technology.

In New Zealand, Modi's visit from July 10 to 11 is the first by an Indian prime minister in nearly four decades. The agenda focuses on deepening strategic ties and includes high-level diplomatic engagements with New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon.
