LEGO Launches Star Wars Smart Play Sets with Interactive Features

By Leo Castellanos

LEGO has officially launched its new line of Star Wars Smart Play sets, featuring interactive technology that enhances the building and play experience. The sets, which became available on March 1, 2026, incorporate the innovative LEGO SMART Play system, allowing for real-time interaction through lights and sounds.

The LEGO SMART Play system includes three key elements: the SMART Brick, SMART Tags, and SMART Minifigures. The SMART Brick, a pivotal component, contains a custom-made chip equipped with sensors, accelerometers, and an onboard synthesizer, enabling it to respond to movement and other stimuli without the need for a screen.

Among the all-in-one sets are Luke’s Red Five X-Wing, priced at $89.99, and Darth Vader’s TIE Fighter, available for $69.99. The Throne Room Duel & A-Wing set, the largest of the initial releases, includes 962 pieces and is priced at $159.99.

Compatible sets, which require a SMART Brick from an all-in-one set to activate their features, include the Millennium Falcon and Luke’s Landspeeder, priced at $99.99 and $39.99, respectively. These sets were showcased at major toy fairs, including the Nuremberg Toy Fair and Toy Fair 2026 in New York.

The launch was highlighted by a live LEGO Star Wars experience at CES 2026, where the sets were projected onto the massive Sphere’s Exosphere in Las Vegas, marking a significant marketing effort for the new product line.
