King Charles III has extended his "warmest congratulations" to the United States as the nation celebrates the 250th anniversary of its Declaration of Independence. In a message addressed to President Donald Trump, the King described 2026 as a "truly historic milestone and a moment of great celebration for Americans everywhere."

The King's message, published on July 4, 2026, on the official Royal Family website, emphasized the evolution of the UK-US relationship from historical conflicts to a robust alliance. He noted that the two countries have developed "one of the closest and most productive alliances the world has seen," with deep ties across defense, security, trade, investment, science, research, education, culture, and the arts.

King Charles also underscored the shared values of "friendship, trust, and a belief in liberty, the rule of law, and the dignity of all people." He highlighted a mutual responsibility to protect the natural world for future generations.

Celebrations in the United States included fireworks, air shows, and a speech by President Trump, according to Euronews. The White House described the anniversary as "the most important milestone" in US history.
