Allisha Gray's Status Uncertain for WNBA Finals After Hand Surgery
By Cameron Tate

Atlanta Dream's star player Allisha Gray underwent a minor surgical procedure on her left hand after sustaining an injury during the WNBA semifinals against the New York Liberty on October 4, 2026. Her status remains day-to-day as the team prepares for the Finals against the Golden State Valkyries.
Gray, who was seen with taped fingers during a practice session on October 13, stated that her recovery is progressing well. "Progress is great… as of right now, just day-to-day, and you’ll see," she remarked. Despite this optimism, head coach Karl Smesko has not confirmed her availability for Game 1 of the Finals, scheduled for October 17.
Gray missed the last two games of the semifinals, yet the Dream managed to secure a series sweep over the Liberty. Her potential absence in the Finals could be significant, as she averaged 19.0 points per game during the regular season, leading the team in scoring.
No official statements have been released by the Dream or the WNBA regarding Gray's condition or her expected return to play.
